Another design originally intended as a note-taking style for e-readers or other digital settings ended up applied more generally, and for even newer technology, as a cell-phone personality face. Cavolini is intended as an informal, hand-written (but un-connected) style that can convey a casual and youthful voice. Both roman and italic have forms derived from quickly-written cursive handwriting. Cyrillic and Greek extensions take advantage of the meandering low-contrast stress. As with Burlingame, the x-height is quite large, the spacing is very loose, and the forms are simplified and unambiguous. It performs very well for text messaging, notes, informal asides and at small sizes. If Comic Sans gets you down, the more fluid and personable qualities of Cavolini will satisfy.
